Cape Cod Hospital Auxiliary

What is the Auxiliary?

The Cape Cod Hospital Auxiliary, first known as the Cape Cod Hospital Aid Association, was formed in 1942 by a small group of dedicated women committed to helping the hospital. After World War II, the Auxiliary organized into "Village" Branches.

Today, Cape Cod Hospital Auxiliary continues as a volunteer organization with over 350 members who comprise three area branches and the Cape Cod Hospital Thrift Shop. We are governed by a Board of Directors consisting of Executive Officers, Chairs of each Branch and the Thrift Shop, and Standing Committee Chairs.

The Auxiliary is an integral part of Cape Cod Hospital, a not-for-profit hospital located on the harbor in Hyannis, Massachusetts. Named one of America's top 100 Hospitals, Cape Cod Hospital is a 259-bed acute care regional medical facility with more than 1,700 employees and 300 physicians on staff.

Each year, dozens of Auxiliary fundraising activities and events provide Cape Cod Hospital with financial support to help ensure the best possible health care for the entire Cape Cod community.

Fundraising is an ongoing and vitally important function of the Auxiliary. Monies raised help Cape Cod Hospital purchase equipment, build new facilities and enhance existing centers of excellence - all to better serve the Cape Cod community and its visitors.

Having raised more than $8 million dollars to date, the Auxiliary remains as dedicated and instrumental as ever in the continuing operation of Cape Cod Hospital.

Within our branches, some of the fundraising activities and events include:

  • Golf Tournaments
  • Raffles and Auctions
  • Card Parties
  • Wine Tastings
  • Annual Holiday Fundraisers such as the Holiday Greens Sale, February Chocolate Extravaganza, Holly Berry Bazaar (Orleans), and Easter Basket Sale

The Thrift Shop is a non-profit organization run by volunteers and staffed by its members. The Shop is dependent solely on donations from the public and it's truly a community effort. The mission of the Thrift Shop is in providing Capital Funding to Cape Cod Hospital. The Shop also provides an opportunity for the public to obtain first-quality merchandise at a reasonable price.

It is a Thrift Shop with a "Boutique" Look. It is air-conditioned, has private dressing rooms, and has clean attractive displays. Browsing is encouraged where you will find friendly, knowledgeable staff, who will always be willing to help you out. You can even consider giving someone a gift certificate so they can take advantage of the wonderful buys. The inventory is extensive and includes everything from clothing, jewelry, household items, sporting goods, shoes, pocketbooks, and miscellaneous items too numerous to list.

To donate goods to the Thrift Shop, items may be dropped off at the back of the building, Tuesday-Saturday from 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM.

Volunteers are always needed and would be greatly appreciated. It is a wonderful place to work. Please call 508-775-0078 for more information.
