Cape Cod Healthcare’s skilled team of Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs) provides women-centered care throughout the stages of your life, from adolescence through child-bearing years, menopause and beyond. Our midwives have received advanced training in nursing and midwifery, and are certified by the American College of Nurse-Midwives.
The option of midwifery care
CNMs can provide continuous, supportive care to meet a woman’s unique needs, throughout pregnancy as well as routine care, in both the office (offered at Cape Cod Hospital OB/GYN) and hospital maternity settings:
- Well-woman exams, gynecologic care and wellness education
- Pregnancy and birth, including pre-natal care, nutrition, labor coaching and delivery
- Post-partum care
- Lactation education and support
The “specialists of normal” at the Family Birthplace
Women who choose the Family Birthplace at Cape Cod Hospital and Falmouth Hospital have the option of midwifery care. Many women appreciate its family-centered approach, dedication to education and promotion of normal pregnancy, labor and birth, with medical intervention only when necessary.
Our CNMs collaborate closely with obstetricians to fulfill our commitment to quality care for all mothers and babies. Your care team may include one or more medical specialists, CNMs and nurses – all dedicated to providing compassionate, skilled care while listening to a woman’s wishes for her birth experience.
