Comprehensive Breast Surgery Services, Close to Home

If surgery is required to treat breast cancer or benign breast disease, our trained surgeons who perform breast surgery are highly-skilled and experienced in the latest techniques. They collaborate closely with other specialists, including our plastic reconstructive surgeons, medical and radiation oncologists, our breast patient navigators and support staff, and services such as the High-Risk Breast Cancer Program and nutrition counseling to create a patient's personalized care plan. Innovative surgical options offered at Cape Cod Healthcare include Hidden Scar™ breast surgery, nipple-sparing mastectomy and oncoplastic breast surgery.

Hidden Scar™ Breast Cancer Surgery

Hidden Scar™ breast cancer surgery provides an option for patients which minimizes scarring and helps to preserve the natural breast shape, with the aim of maintaining a woman’s physical appearance and lessening the emotional impact of breast surgery. In Hidden Scar™ lumpectomy and mastectomy surgery, a single incision is made along the natural folds of the skin to remove tissue, sparing the nipple, areola and surrounding breast tissue. Jill Oxley, MD, FACS and Naomi Kalliath, DO are specially trained in this Hidden Scar™ technique.

Breast Cancer Reconstruction Surgery Fund

This fund is available to women who live in Barnstable County, to help with the costs of breast reconstruction not covered by insurance. It is also open to Barnstable County patients with hereditary cancer syndromes who have not had a cancer diagnosis, for use covering a prophylactic mastectomy, as well as for breast reconstruction patients whose insurance is not accepted by their plastic surgeon.
