Midwifery

Cape Cod Healthcare’s skilled team of certified nurse-midwives (CNMs) provide women-centered care throughout the stages of a woman’s life, from adolescence through child-bearing years, menopause and beyond. Our midwives have received advanced training in nursing and midwifery, and are certified by the American College of Nurse-Midwives.

Collaborative Support at The Family Birthplace

Our certified nurse-midwives play an essential role in fulfilling our commitment to provide quality care for all mothers and babies. Your care team may include several medical specialists, including your OB/GYN, a hospital laborist, CNMs and nurses – all dedicated to providing compassionate, skilled care while listening to a woman’s wishes for her birth experience. Our team is dedicated to the education and promotion of normal pregnancy, labor and birth, with medical intervention only when necessary.

Midwifery Care

CNMs can provide continuous, supportive care to meet a woman’s unique needs, throughout pregnancy as well as routine gynecological care and wellness education. Midwifery care is available in the office at Cape Cod Hospital OB/GYN and in the hospital at The Family Birthplace of Cape Cod Hospital.

Maternity midwifery care includes:

  • Prenatal care, nutrition, labor coaching and delivery
  • Post-partum care
  • Lactation education and support
