Breastfeeding Support

Because breastfeeding is known to provide many health benefits for both babies and their mothers, the maternity experts at Cape Cod Healthcare are committed to supporting women who choose to breastfeed.

Our board-certified lactation consultants are nurses trained to help you get started breastfeeding as soon as your baby arrives, and support you and your baby throughout your breastfeeding experience. As part of the family-centered care provided at The Family Birthplace at Cape Cod Hospital, you’ll receive the dedicated help and guidance you need to succeed.

Preparation for breastfeeding is covered in our childbirth classes, reviewing:

  • Advantages of breastfeeding
  • The anatomy and physiology of lactation
  • Myths surrounding breastfeeding
  • How to help new mothers get the best start possible

On-going support after your maternity stay is available through The Family Birthplace.
