Vaccination Appointments at CCHC

From infancy through adulthood, vaccines work with your body’s natural defense system to safely help you develop immunity to a number of serious diseases. In addition to providing protection to your body, staying current on vaccinations lowers your chance of spreading disease, especially to those with weaker immune systems.

Flu Vaccinations

At Cape Cod Healthcare, we know the best way to avoid the flu is to prevent it. The influenza vaccine remains the best way to protect you and your family from the flu virus. According to CDC recommendations, nearly all individuals 6 months of age or older should receive the flu vaccine each year.

Cape Cod Healthcare offers both the traditional flu vaccine as well as the senior (high dose) vaccine. The mFLUSIVA mRNA flu vaccine from Moderna is available in limited quantities at Cape Cod Healthcare Pharmacy at Cape Cod Hospital, Cape Cod Healthcare Pharmacy at Falmouth Hospital, and participating community clinics. Please contact a pharmacist to learn more or to see if the mRNA vaccine is appropriate for you. More information about this vaccine is available online from the National Council on Aging.

Flu Testing

At our Urgent Care centers, you can receive a flu test along with an evaluation by a medical professional to help determine the right next steps for your care. Compared to at-home flu testing, our tests are less likely to present false results and, if a flu virus is found, we offer direct access to antivirals such as Paxlovid or Tamiflu.

Additional Vaccinations

Despite receiving necessary vaccines as a child, the protection from some vaccines can wear off. You may also be at risk for other diseases due to your job, lifestyle, travel, or health conditions. The CDC provides a list of recommended vaccinations by age.
