When to See an Orthopedic Specialist

Sometimes it's hard to know when to see an orthopedic provider.

A specialist may be appropriate for you:

  • If you are having difficulty performing everyday activities such as climbing stairs or walking the dog.
  • If you suffer from chronic pain, pain lasting more than 12 weeks.
  • If your range of motion is limited.
  • If you experience instability while standing up, sitting down, standing or walking.
  • If you have experienced an injury that has not improved in 48 hours such as a sprained ankle or twisted knee.
