Micra™ Transcatheter Pacing System
If you have been told you need a pacemaker for your heart, you may want to ask if you’re a candidate for the Micra™ Transcatheter Pacing System.
The Micra™ Transcatheter Pacing System (Micra TPS) is the world’s smallest minimally invasive pacemaker, designed to restore the heart’s normal rhythm in qualified patients who experience low or irregular heart rhythms.
At one-tenth the size of traditional pacemakers, this device is comparable to the size of a large vitamin, weighs about the same as a penny and has an estimated average 12-year battery life. Unlike traditional pacemakers that stimulate heartbeats via wires connected to the heart, the Micra TPS is inserted directly into the heart without wires or a separate battery.
Delivered into the heart via a catheter inserted in the leg, insertion does not require a surgical incision, which eliminates the device’s visibility under the skin, minimizing complications and speeding recovery time.
