Heart Procedures and Surgery

When you require a cardiac procedure, you want to know that you will be treated with the latest and best technology, in the hands of skilled and experienced surgeons and cardiologists.

Cape Cod Healthcare provides a comprehensive program, covering cardiac surgery and interventional cardiology services.

Cardiovascular Surgery

Our highly skilled, board-certified cardiothoracic and vascular surgeons have performed thousands of surgeries, including procedures typically offered only at large academic institutions.

As one of only two community hospitals in Massachusetts licensed to perform cardiac surgery, Cape Cod Hospital has served patients and their families on the Cape since 2002. Recognized for exceptional care by the American College of Cardiology, the cardiovascular surgical program is affiliated with Brigham and Women’s Hospital, an internationally recognized cardiovascular surgery center in Boston, bringing continual advances to the Cape.

Our Heart Surgery Team

Paul Pirundini, MD, chief of cardiothoracic surgery, and cardiothoracic surgeon Dan Loberman, MD, lead our comprehensive cardiac program at CCHC.

Backed by a skilled cardiac care team featuring anesthesiologists, nurses and technologists, Drs. Pirundini and Loberman perform surgeries in two open heart surgical suites equipped with the latest technology, and one-on-one patient post-surgical care.

Our cardiovascular intensive care nurses are highly trained and skilled in cardiovascular medicine, pre- and post-operative cardiac surgery and cardiac intervention care. They help implement the care plan and provide patients and their families with comfort and healing during the recovery process.
