Cape Codders Come Home: Liam A. Haveran, DO, FACSCape Codders Come Home: Liam A. Haveran, DO, FACS

Liam A. Haveran, DO, FACS, moved to the Cape before he was three years old. His family, sailors who enjoyed the beach and boating, settled in Chatham.

“I grew up in essentially a blue collar family,” he said. “My father worked for the telephone company for many, many years, and my mother was a secretary and eventually she owned her own business. I was sort of led in the direction of going to a trade school, Cape Cod Tech, to learn a trade. I started off my career as a plumber.”

With a budding career that seemed so far from medicine, Dr. Haveran admits that is “essentially was a culmination of many things” that led him into the medical field, and eventually resulted in him becoming a surgeon. His interest in science and physical fitness were big factors.

“Honestly, I couldn’t think of a better place to be and to raise a family, than on Cape Cod,” he added. “It was literally the right place, at the right time.”
