Oncology Nurse Navigator

A cancer diagnosis, and a patient’s journey that follows can be overwhelming.

Our Oncology Nurse Navigator is your advocate for care every step of the way. From diagnosis and treatment to on-going follow-up.

The Nurse Navigator is a dedicated shoulder to lean on, helping to assist and support patients and their families through the foreign maze of the healthcare world, and acting as both translator and guide to ease the journey of fear and uncertainty.

The Oncology Nurse Navigator program is currently offered to patients with lung, gynecological, and head and neck cancers, and will expand to more oncology patients in the future.

What are the benefits of partnering with our Oncology Nurse Navigator?

Oncology Navigation has been shown to positively impact patient outcomes by offering a more streamlined and supportive experience for cancer patients, which includes:

  • Providing educational resources to help you understand your diagnosis and treatment options
  • Collaborating with the members of your healthcare team to eliminate barriers to timely diagnosis and treatment
  • Connecting patients and caregivers to additional community, financial and support resources
  • Facilitating a timely start for a patient’s care on Cape Cod and assistance with seeking a second opinion if requested, so that no time is lost prior to beginning treatment.

In addition to helping you navigate your clinical care needs, our Oncology Nurse Navigator can assist with referrals to social workers, dieticians, mental health professionals and other cancer support services to minimize the logistical burden and to enable you to focus on your recovery and healing.

Through the enhanced level of support that the Nurse Navigator provides, our hope is to give cancer patients a sense that they are not alone on their journey. We’ve got you and will help see everything through, at every step, for them.
