Our Summer Student Helper position has been meticulously crafted to offer students a unique experience. It allows someone to work alongside our seasoned workforce, providing a hands-on approach to learning and serving as a guiding beacon on their journey toward a fulfilling healthcare career.
In this role, students will engage in non-clinical duties across various departments, gaining exposure to multiple responsibilities. How it Works
- Summer Student Helpers are temporary employees.
- Summer Student Helpers will be assigned to departments within Cape Cod Healthcare. These locations & departments include:
- Hospitals
- Outpatient (PCP & Specialty Offices)
- Visiting Nurse Association
- Medical/Surgical Floors
- Emergency Department
- Surgical Services (i.e. OR/PACU)
- Pharmacy
- Rehab (i.e. Physical Therapy)
- Nutrition Services (i.e. Food Service)
- Environmental Services (i.e. Housekeeping)
- Administrative Offices
What’s Included
- On-the-job training/experience with healthcare professionals
- Opportunity to attend clinical education courses (i.e. BLS, etc.)
- Opportunity to discuss healthcare goals with leadership
- Opportunity to interview for a regular position once the summer temporary position has been completed.
Who Qualifies
- Must be a current high school student; ideal candidate is entering Junior or Senior year
- Eligible to work in MA
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English
- Ability to work independently or with others
- Possesses basic computer/keyboarding skills
How to Apply
Applications open January 12-30, 2026. Your application must include the following documents*:
- A current resume
- Minimum of one letter of recommendation from a teacher or guidance counselor
Important Note Regarding Letters of Recommendation
If your teacher or guidance counselor does not provide the letter directly to you, please complete the following steps:
1. Upload a brief document with your application explaining that the letter will be sent separately and identifying who will be submitting it.
2. Inform your reference that they must email the letter directly to the CCHC Recruitment Department at recruitment@capecodhealth.org.
*Applications missing any document will not be considered.
Step 1: Apply for a position
Step 2: Be prepared
- We will begin contacting viable candidates approximately one to two weeks after your submission.
Step 3: Interview time
- Selected candidates will be scheduled for in-person interviews during these two weeks.
Step 4: Offers go out!
- Final candidates will receive their job offers.
Step 5: Onboarding process (for selected candidates)
- If you are selected and receive an offer, you will be invited to complete onboarding appointments with our Human Resources and Occupational Health teams. For these appointments, please bring the following:
- Legal guardian
- Valid forms of ID for an I-9 (e.g. Valid Passport or School ID and Social Security card/Birth Certificate)
Step 6: Your summer starts with us!
- Attend CCHC New Hire Orientation (held on a Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.).
- Head to your assigned department to get your summer started.
- A cover letter and resume
- A letter of recommendation from the school (i.e., teacher, guidance counselor, etc.)
2026 Summer Student Helper Timeline
- Jan. 12-30, 2026 - Positions will be posted for you to apply
- Feb. 2, 2026 - We start calling candidates to schedule interviews
- Feb. 16 - 27, 2026 - Interviews with the hiring managers
- March 2, 2026 - Offers are extended starting on this day!
