Nursing Roles at Medical Affiliates of Cape Cod (MACC):

Nurse (Traditional Rooming)

In the traditional model, nurses work within MACC-affiliated primary and specialty care practices. Their responsibilities include supporting physicians during patient visits, assisting with clinical procedures, coordinating care for patients with chronic conditions, and maintaining communication between patients and providers. This office-based setting allows nurses to be integral to both daily operations and long-term care planning.

Nurse (POD Rooming)

The POD model is a distinctive, team-based approach to care. Nurses in this model remain with the patient throughout the entire visit, assisting with clinical needs while also functioning as a real-time scribe for the provider. In addition to all the duties of the traditional model, POD nurses are deeply integrated into the clinical team, supporting workflow efficiency, enhancing documentation, and strengthening the continuity of the patient experience.

Clinical Triage Nurse

Triage nurses function in an outpatient, telephonic role and serve as the first point of clinical contact for patients calling with health concerns. They assess symptoms using evidence-based protocols, direct patients to appropriate care settings, manage urgent messages and medication refill requests, and ensure follow-up needs are addressed.

Float Nurse (Rooming & Triage)

Float nurses support a flexible, team-based care structure by rotating among multiple MACC practices. Assigned within defined office groups, they provide coverage during staffing gaps, high-volume periods, or special project needs. This role allows nurses to gain exposure to a variety of clinical settings and patient populations, ensuring consistent care delivery across the organization.

Medical Affiliates of Cape Cod Urgent Cares (MACC)

When a minor illness or injury needs quick attention, Cape Cod Healthcare’s Urgent Care centers provide fast, cost-effective care near home. Staffed by board-certified ER providers, our full-service, walk-in clinics are open daily across six convenient Cape locations, with a new center in The Pinehills, Plymouth (opening July 2025). 95% of our patients are treated in under an hour. From earaches and rashes to sprains, tick bites, and minor fractures, our Urgent Care centers are equipped to treat a wide range of non-emergent conditions.

Urgent Care RN

U.C. RN’s provide professional nursing care in a high-volume, fast-paced urgent care setting for patients of all ages. Responsibilities include patient intake, assessment, point-of-care testing, assisting with procedures, administering treatments, documenting medical history, and providing patient education. The role requires strong IV skills, acute care experience, and the ability to maintain confidentiality and deliver excellent service. RNs with a BSN and prior urgent care or emergency department experience are given preference when applying.
