MedStart Internship Program

Falmouth Hospital, in collaboration with Falmouth High School, has developed MedStart, a program to give high school students a chance to shadow a physician or other provider as a window to career development in healthcare.

The program is open to all students who are interested in a career in the health/medical field.

Listen to Cape Cod Healthcare’s Keith Bleiler, founder of MedStart, talk about this unique shadowing and internship program, along with Janet Rocha, business and career education teacher at Falmouth High School and Kara Galvin, director of Youth Services at the Cape and Island Workforce Investment Board in a radio interview on local NPR station, WCAI.

Who is eligible

Juniors in high school are eligible to apply for the program. The three-hour sessions give students an idea of what that particular career entails. They have the opportunity to ask one-on-one conversations with the doctor or other provider they are following.

Internships are available during students’ senior year. The internships are typically fulfilled during the last two periods of the day.
