The Eustachian Tube is a narrow tube linking the back of the nose to the middle ear, a passage that serves to protect the middle ear from infection. When these tubes are impaired, patients can experience muffled hearing, fullness of the ear, pain in the ear, inability to equilibrate middle ear (ME) pressure, tinnitus, and dizziness.

Cape Cod Healthcare is the first healthcare system in Southeastern Massachusetts to perform Eustachian Tube Dilation, a minimally invasive procedure that opens the Eustachian Tubes, allowing them to function properly.

This new procedure allows Ear, Nose and Throat physicians to use a small catheter fitted with a balloon to gently dilate the Eustachian Tubes, opening a pathway for mucus and air to flow as they should, restoring function.
