Michael K. Lauf, MBA

President and CEO, Cape Cod Healthcare and CEO, Cape Cod Hospital

Michael K. Lauf, MBA, has served since December of 2010 as President and Chief Executive Officer of Cape Cod Healthcare, a regional health system with more than 600 physicians and over 5,000 employees which is comprised of two-acute care hospitals, a Level III trauma center, the largest home health services agency on the Cape (VNA), seven urgent care centers, a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility, an assisted living facility, a primary and specialty care network and numerous health services and programs.

Prior to being appointed to his current position as President and CEO, Mr. Lauf served as Cape Cod Healthcare’s Chief Operating Officer from 2008-2010 and was promoted to President of Cape Cod Hospital and Falmouth Hospital in 2010.

During his tenure, Mr. Lauf has led the Cape Cod Healthcare organization through significant advancements in quality, service and operational excellence. Under his leadership, CCHC has achieved strong financial and strategic growth, putting $1 billion of investments into the healthcare system without the issuance of new debt, while prioritizing patient access and experience, investments in leading-edge technology, process improvements and workforce development.

Prior to joining CCHC, Mr. Lauf’s deep understanding of community healthcare was shaped by his experience serving as Chief Operating Officer of Bristol Medical Center, a 348-bed hospital in Bristol, Tennessee, part of the Wellmont Healthcare System. From 1999 to 2006, he held a variety of positions for Conemaugh Health System in Pennsylvania, including President and CEO of one of Conemaugh’s hospitals, Miners Medical Center. His background includes public service as a former staff member for U.S. Representative John P. Murtha from 1994 to 1999, and as Rep. Murtha’s Director of Community and Economic Development.

Mr. Lauf served as the 84th Chair of the Massachusetts Health & Hospital Association (MHA) Board of Trustees during 2025. In this position, he guided the MHA's Board as it continued its critical work of addressing the challenges facing hospitals and healthcare systems across Massachusetts and ensuring timely, high-quality care for patients statewide – a role that leveraged his policy expertise with his passion for driving innovative solutions in healthcare.

Mr. Lauf earned his MBA from Saint Francis University in Pennsylvania and his BA from the University of Pittsburgh.
