Cape Cod Healthcare Launches EPIC Electronic Health Record System, New MyChart Patient Portal
(Hyannis, MA – November 2, 2020) On November 1, 2020, Cape Cod Healthcare launched the industry leading EPIC electronic health record for patient care across the Cape Cod Healthcare system. The new integrated health record system represents a $70 million investment in the Cape Cod community that will improve care quality and safety, and create a more seamless experience for Cape Cod Healthcare patients. The new system will also offer a new, robust online patient portal – Cape Cod Healthcare MyChart – which will allow patients to view test results, schedule appointments, communicate with their care teams and see upcoming reminders, all from their preferred mobile device or computer.
“The future of healthcare should look a lot like the other services we rely on every day. It should be accessible, convenient, seamless and user friendly. It should leverage technology to improve the quality of patient care and at the same time, improve the overall patient experience,” said Michael Lauf, president and CEO of Cape Cod Healthcare. “We began our search for an integrated health record system over two years ago and identified EPIC as the best in class. This investment is a key component of our mission to improve the lives of our patients by continuously improving the care we provide on Cape Cod.”
The new EPIC electronic health record system will be utilized by Cape Cod and Falmouth Hospitals, Medical Affiliates of Cape Cod physician practices and Cape Cod Healthcare Urgent Care Centers, creating one patient record which will be accessible throughout the Cape Cod Healthcare system. Patients will save time by not having to repeat their healthcare information, providers will communicate more efficiently with patients and each other, and patients will be able to take charge of their own healthcare by utilizing the MyChart patient portal.
“EPIC is the health record of choice for many of the leading healthcare systems across the country. For Cape Codders – that means our new system will be able to communicate directly with many providers in Boston, Florida and across our country, significantly enhancing care coordination for our patients. Similarly, the MyChart patient portal will provide many patients with one access point for their health information across providers,” said Lauf.
