Cape Cod Healthcare Partners With Seaside LeMans for The Race for the Cape Cod Community

January 2013

Seaside LeMans and Cape Cod Healthcare are pleased to announce that they have joined forces for the 2013 Seaside Le Mans - The Race for the Cape Cod Community. The collaboration will further enhance the race's visibility and help to raise awareness of the valuable contributions to the community made by this year's race beneficiaries. "We are very pleased to be partnering with Seaside Le Mans for this wonderful event to help raise money for several of our valuable community partners," said Michael Lauf, CCHC President and CEO. "Cape Cod Healthcare cares deeply about our community's health, and this wonderful event allows us to demonstrate our commitment to our neighbors." Over the past twelve years, the race has raised nearly $3.5 million for Cape Cod organizations through sponsorships and matching grants. DeWitt Davenport, President of The Davenport Companies and founder of the Seaside Le Mans applauded the involvement of Cape Cod Healthcare, "We are so fortunate to have the cooperation of such a highly regarded organization that reaches out to many Cape Codders on a daily basis. Their mission complements ours in enhancing the lives of all Cape Cod residents by taking care of one another. We look forward to working together to bring the event to the next level."

The five local non-profit organizations who will be beneficiaries for the 2013 event each have a designated focus for the funds received: Outer Cape Health Services - Expansion of Services in Harwich; Hope Hospice - Expansion at the McCarthy Care Center; Children's Cove - Awareness Campaign; Cape Cod Times Needy Fund - Major Crisis Relief Fund; Cape Cod Healthcare - Emergency Room Expansions. "We are extremely grateful to the Seaside Le Mans organization for putting their support behind our efforts to improve our emergency centers at Cape Cod Hospital and Falmouth Hospital. The renovation and expansion projects at the two ERs will significantly improve patient comfort, access and flow, and will enhance the environment for our emergency caregivers," said Mr. Lauf.

The 13th Annual Seaside Le Mans will be held Saturday, September 7, 2013 from 12pm - 4pm at Mashpee Commons. The annual fundraiser, presented and underwritten by The Davenport Companies, features teams of sponsors driving Formula 1 karts during a four-hour endurance race on an outdoor track to determine the winner. The Davenport Companies, which covers all event related costs, works with F1 Boston to organize and manage the race and with the Cape Cod Foundation to distribute the funds. The event is free to spectators, and also features entertainment and children's activities.

While all donations and sponsorships are welcome, "Driving Sponsorships" provide the opportunity to participate in the endurance race, a practice session prior to the race, and an invitation to the sponsor dinner. Driving Sponsorships range from $1,700 to $10,000 dependent upon the number of drivers. Since the field will be limited to 20 teams, companies or individuals interested in becoming sponsors/kart drivers are encouraged to contact Beth Patkoske, Event Director at 508-394-8800 ext. 142 as soon as possible.
