Cape Cod Hospital Earns Beckers Top 100 Honor

July 2012

Cape Cod Healthcare is pleased to announce that Cape Cod Hospital has been named one of America's 100 Great Community Hospitals according to a study released earlier this month by Becker's Hospital Review. To compile this list, the Becker's Hospital Review editorial team analyzed information, recognition and rankings from a variety of industry sources, including iVantage Health Analytics, Thomson Reuters, HealthGrades and the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

"It's gratifying to learn that our commitment to providing the best patient care possible is recognized by independent organizations such as Becker's Hospital Review," said Michael Lauf, President and CEO of Cape Cod Healthcare. "Our physicians, nurses and other health care professionals work very hard every day to produce the highest levels of patient satisfaction and top-quality care. Through this honor, their efforts are recognized."

The award comes on the heels of the June announcement that both Cape Cod Hospital and Falmouth Hospital have earned a national distinction for excellence in patient safety, as documented in national patient safety measures. The two hospitals received an "A," the highest grade available, in The Leapfrog Group’s patient safety rating program.

Becker's Hospital Review features up-to-date business and legal news and analysis relating to hospitals and health systems. Each of the nine annual issues of Becker's Hospital Review reaches approximately 18,500 people, primarily acute-care hospital CEOs and CFOs. Cape Cod Hospital is one of only two Massachusetts hospitals on this list, joining Newton-Wellesley Hospital. Danbury Hospital and Middlesex Hospital in Connecticut are the only other New England hospitals on the list.

"Community hospitals are a critical component to the American healthcare continuum," Becker's said in a statement announcing this award. "These hospitals are often the anchors of health and employment within their communities, providing patients with top-quality care close to home. The hospitals on this list have demonstrated commitments to the health of their local population through clinical excellence, community involvement and various other efforts."
