What is Oncology Rehabilitation?
Oncology Rehabilitation Services are specifically designed for the individual who has experienced cancer.
Who can benefit from Oncology Rehabilitation?
Any oncology patient who experiences one or more of the following problems:
- Loss of mobility/tightness
- Postural deficits
- Loss of strength
- Swelling/lymphedema issues
- Pain/discomfort
- Decreased ability to perform daily activities
- Tight, painful or thickened scars
- Difficulty talking/slurred speech
- Decreased sensation and/or hypersensitivity
- Difficulty swallowing or eating
- Decreased ability to participate in sports or hobbies

| Supple and pain free scar mobility | Scar management-scar massage techniques, soft-tissue mobilization and taping |
| Increase mobility | Stretching activities- to lengthen muscles and tissues tightened by surgery and adjuvant therapies |
| Increase muscle strength | Strengthening exercises-progressive exercise programs |
| Resolve swelling | Edema management and education |
| Improve posture | Postural exercises and education |
| Improve skin sensitivity | Scar management/skin desensitization |
| Improve function/endurance | Therapeutic activities and exercise |
| Improve swallow function | Strenthening exercises, teaching compensatory strategies, and education |
| Improve communication skills | Oral-motor exercises and teaching compensatory strategies |
