With myriad advancements in recent years, orthopedic surgeons at Cape Cod Hospital and Falmouth Hospital are now using the newest technology to examine, diagnose and treat many joint problems, These outpatient arthroscopic procedures leave only a tiny scar and require minimal recovery time.

Diagnosis of a joint injury or disease begins with a physical exam and a review of the patient’s medical history, followed by radiology tests like X-rays, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and computed tomography (CT) scans. The doctor may then recommend arthroscopic surgery in order to make a final, accurate diagnosis and correct the problem.

On the Road to Recovery



After surgery, the patient is taken to a recovery room. Once the patient is fully awake, the doctor reviews the surgery results and makes recommendations for follow-up care and rehabilitation programs, if necessary.
