Meet Our Nurse Midwives
Jodi Schwartz Belson, Certified Nurse-Midwife
Jodi Schwartz Belson, CNM earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree at Colby College in Waterville, Maine. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at New York University where she also earned her Master of Arts in Nurse-Midwifery. Jodi has worked in both New York and Massachusetts in a range of birth settings. She has attended births in hospitals, in hospital birthing centers and in free standing birth centers. She also has experience in high risk maternity units. Jodi worked on the South Shore maintaining a full scope practice in OB/Gyn and for three years practiced office based midwifery here on Cape Cod.
Janice DiGioia, Certified Nurse-Midwife
Janice DiGioia, MSN, CNM graduated from Alfred University School of Nursing with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She earned her Masters of Science Degree in Nurse-Midwifery at the University of Kentucky. She worked as the first Certified Nurse Midwife at Cape Cod Hospital from 1985 through 1991 in private practice. Janice worked on the South Shore, maintaining a full scope practice in OB/Gyn. She returned to Cape Cod Healthcare as a Certified Nurse-Midwife in the Maternity Department of Cape Cod Hospital in February 2009. Janice works with the OB/Gyn physicians on the maternity floor assisting with labor management, delivery, teaching and support for family centered care.
Jennifer Gilbert, Certified Nurse Midwife
Jennifer Gilbert, MSN, CNM earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of New Hampshire, graduating Cum Laude: going on to the University of Pennsylvania as a National Health Service Corps Scholar to complete her Masters of Science in Maternal Child Health Nursing. In February of 1995 she became Board certified as a Certified Nurse Midwife . She practiced in Baltimore for nine years in a variety of settings before moving to Vermont. After taking a few years off she returned to midwifery, going to work for Indian Health Services in South Dakota and New Mexico. For the last two years she commuted from The Cape to Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, New York prior to joining the staff at Cape Cod Hospital in December 2012.
Jeanette R. King, Certified Nurse-Midwife
Jeanette King, CNM earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in biological sciences at the University of California at Irvine and her Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. She received her Master of Science in nursing at the University of Rochester in New York. Jeanette has many years of experience in obstetrical registered nursing, including at free standing birth centers and at high-volume tertiary facilities. She works on the maternity floor with the OB/Gyn physicians assisting with labor management, deliveries, teaching and support for family centered care.
Jean MacBarron, Certified Nurse-Midwife
Jean MacBarron, CNM, MPH earned her Masters of Public Health, Certificate in Nurse Midwifery from Boston University School of Public Health. She received Bachelor of Arts Degree from Southeastern Massachusetts University in North Dartmouth, Massachusetts and her Registered Nurse (RN) degree at Bristol Community College in Fall River. She worked as a Nurse Midwife in Rhode Island for a number of years in both private practice and the public health arena. She moved to South Shore Women’s Health in Scituate, Massachusetts, as a staff Midwife for several years before becoming their Director of Nurse Midwives. She joined Cape Cod Hospital in 2011.
