Cape Cod Healthcare Celebrates Survivor’s Day

(Hyannis, May 26, 2011)Cape Cod Healthcare Cancer Services invites the public to “A Celebration of Life,” in honor of National Cancer Survivor’s Day on June 5, 2011, at Cape Cod Hospital on Park Street in Hyannis.

A reception and activities will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. in the hospital’s Café/Courtyard at the Mugar entrance of the hospital. The event is for all cancer survivors, their families and caregivers.

“The number of persons surviving cancer is growing each day.  According to the National Cancer Institute there were 11.7 million cancer survivors in the United States as of 2007.  Survivors Day provides an opportunity to celebrate those who are living the best quality of life that they possibly can,” said Jeffrey A. Gaudet, LICSW, OSW-C  CCHC Survivorship Program Manager. 

Cape Cod Hospital Medical Oncologist David R. Lovett, MD, will welcome the group and Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce CEO Wendy Northcross will present “A Survivor’s Story.”

Gift baskets, door prizes, information tables and entertainment by Marco will also be featured at the event.
