Cape Cod Healthcare Becomes Official Medical Care Provider of New Balance Falmouth Road Race Historic Partnership Becomes Official With Five Year Sponsorship
April 24, 2012. Falmouth, MA – The New Balance Falmouth Road Race announces that Cape Cod Healthcare has been named the Official Medical Care Provider of the New Balance Falmouth Road Race. The agreement formalizes the long-standing partnership between the race and the organization that has staffed the medical tents for the August event for years. The sponsorship agreement with Cape Cod Healthcare is for five years. The 40th running of the New Balance Falmouth Road Race will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2012.
“The New Balance Falmouth Road Race is pleased to formally welcome Cape Cod Healthcare as the Official Medical Care Provider of the race,” said Scott Ghelfi, president, board of directors. “The dedicated, knowledgeable doctors and nurses from Falmouth Hospital have staffed our medical tents almost from the beginning and have played an integral role in making the race as safe as it has been over the last four decades. Dr. Robert Davis and Dr. John Jardine lead our medical teams to make sure that all runners have the best care possible during all kinds of conditions. Cape Cod Healthcare will now become even more involved with a large presence at the Health & Fitness Expo, at all the medical tents and as participants in the race.”
As part of the partnership, Cape Cod Healthcare will fully manage and staff the three medical tents and first aid stations along the course and at the finish. There will be an additional medical area on the ball field this year to tend to any issues that may arise for spectators or runners as they cool down. In addition, Falmouth Hospital will provide much needed parking spots for official road race needs on the day of the race. Cape Cod Healthcare will have a large presence at the Health & Fitness Expo, providing screenings for attendees, healthcare information and exhibits.
“Cape Cod Healthcare is proud to partner with the New Balance Falmouth Road Race as part of our commitment to our community,” said Mike Lauf, CEO, Cape Cod Healthcare. “Our doctors and nurses have a strong, historic legacy with this event and our employees expressed their wishes to have this partnership become more formal. The formal partnership with the New Balance Falmouth Road Race perfectly aligns with Cape Cod Healthcare’s mission.
“From start to finish, our professional staff will have participants and spectators covered as part of our dedication to providing the best patient care possible in the right place and at the right time.”
“We are also pleased to have dozens of race numbers to offer our employees as part of an internal lottery system,” continued Lauf. “This is in line with our health and wellness initiatives.”
The 40th running of the New Balance Falmouth Road Race will be held August 12, 2012. Further information can be found at www.falmouthroadrace.com, www.facebook.com/falmouthroadrace or www.twitter.com/runfalmouth
