Ways to Support Cape Cod Healthcare

Cape Cod Healthcare's commitment to excellence earned the organization recognition by Truven Health Analytics as one of the Top 15 Health Systems in the nation. As the only recipient awarded this distinction in New England, we know we are doing our job and taking good care of our community.

This remarkable achievement is a culmination of the profound growth and development we have experienced over the past decade. Thanks to $147 million in charitable gifts from our donors, we have built new facilities and created new models of care delivery to ensure our community has access to the most exemplary services available.

We hope you will consider supporting our mission and help us continue to bring the best healthcare services to Cape Cod.

Gifts of Stocks or Securities

Donating appreciated securities is an excellent way to support Cape Cod Healthcare. If you own stock or mutual fund shares that have appreciated in value, you can donate these shares and not have to pay any capital gain tax on your “paper profit.” And you can take a federal income tax charitable deduction for the full appreciated value of the securities, subject to some limitations, if you have held them for more than one year. For additional information, please contact Wendy DeCicco at 508.862.5618 or wdecicco@capecodhealth.org.

Cape Cod Healthcare Foundation prefers to accept gifts of stock that have been electronically transferred directly into our brokerage account.

Matching Gifts

Corporate matching gifts are an easy way for people to maximize the impact of their personal donations to Cape Cod Healthcare Foundation. By taking advantage of your company’s matching gift program, you can generate an additional gift that may automatically double or triple your own donation.

To make a matching gift, check with your Human Resources Department to find out about its Matching Gift Program. Many companies will provide a form for you to complete and send to us regarding your donation. We will confirm your gift and return the matching gift form to your company, which will then send a matching gift to Cape Cod Healthcare Foundation.

Remembering Cape Cod Healthcare In Your Will or Trust

Bequests or Living Trust: Bequests or living trust directions to support Cape Cod Healthcare have become an integral part of our organization's philanthropic tradition. These charitable gifts enable a person to make significant contributions that may not have been possible during their life.

Gifts of Retirement Plan Assets: Retirement plans now account for 36% of household wealth, so assets in those plans are often used for charitable gifts. A simple way to make a gift from your IRA, 401(k), 403(b) or other defined contribution plan is to name our institution as a beneficiary of all or a percentage of whatever might remain in the fund at the end of your life. You need only complete a change-of-beneficiary form, which you can obtain from the plan administrator. Such a gift is doubtless the most cost-effective way to make a charitable gift.

Visit the Planned Giving page to learn more about the various forms of charitable gift plans available to you and your family.

Planned Gifts

A "planned gift" refers to any form of contribution that is not an outright gift. In most cases, the gift is arranged now, but Cape Cod Healthcare benefits in the future. The primary reason you would make a gift to our organization is that you believe in its mission and want to assure its future, but you will want to choose the giving method that maximizes tax savings, provides your family's security, and is personally satisfying.

Examples of Planned Gifts include:

  • Gifts of Retirement Plan Assets
  • Gift of Your Home with Retained Life Estate
  • Gifts of Life Insurance
  • The Charitable Lead Trust
