Freedom from Joint Pain

After years of arthritis pain, actress Pat Carroll was ready to get on with the show. So last summer, the stage, screen, and television veteran began attending group pre-operative classes at Cape Cod Hospital, which were followed by right hip replacement surgery in August by Richard K. Mannal, MD, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon on staff at Cape Cod Hospital.

“I had been in such dire pain for over a year at that point,” Pat remembers, “but as soon as I woke up from the surgery I knew the pain in my hip was gone forever.” Now, after a brief hospital stay and rehabilitation, Pat is back to acting. Disney fans might recognize her voice; she was the voice of Ursula in The Little Mermaid. Most recently, she’s appeared in three episodes of ER.

“There is no comparison between how I felt before the surgery and how I feel now,” Pat says. “I’m so grateful for this procedure!”
