Competing Again
During his junior year of high school, James Brumfield was snowboarding when his right knee popped. After ignoring the injury for two months, James was forced to seek medical attention when he lost practically all strength in the knee.
“After the snowboarding season ended, I started searching around for a good doctor,” James says. “I heard positive things about John Willis, MD, orthopedic surgeon at Cape Cod Hospital, so I decided to turn to him for help.”
Following an evaluation, Dr. Willis determined that James had suffered a full anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear and had also damaged his knee meniscus. Soon afterwards, Dr. Willis repaired both problems at Cape Cod Hospital with minimal invasion, and James says he has no scar from the surgery.
Now, James is back on his snowboard, competing once again against some of the world’s most respected snowboarders.
“Dr. Willis and the rest of the staff made my entire experience as stress-free as possible and explained everything to make me feel comfortable. They provided the best care I could have ever hoped for,” James recalls. “If anything happens to me again and I need orthopedic surgery, I’ll be heading back home to Cape Cod Hospital. I wouldn’t think of going anywhere else.”
