Pulmonary Rehabilitation is a comprehensive conditioning and education program designed to help individuals suffering from COPD, asthma, bronchitis and emphysema cope with the implications of lung disease.
The Pulmonary Rehabilitation programs at Cape Cod Hospital’s Whitcomb Pavilion and at Falmouth Hospital provide an eight-week outpatient clinic that includes an exercise and education program.
Using a team approach, physicians, nurses, occupational therapist, nutritionists, respiratory therapists and pulmonologists coordinate care for personalized treatment. Participants meet in groups for education and exercise prescribed at a pace coordinated to each patient’s needs.
At the conclusion of the course, participants are evaluated and the results are sent to the referring physician. A maintenance program is also offered to those who complete the program.
