Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation
The cardiac rehab program, led by our cardiac rehab specialists with guidance from cardiologists and cardiac nurses, includes:
- A customized exercise program that may involve walking on treadmills, riding stationary bikes and lifting weights
- Education classes to learn about medications, stress management and warning signs of future heart trouble
- Dietary guidance from a nutritionist
- Access to a psychologist in case of depression or anxiety
Throughout the rehab program, the patient’s heart rhythm, heart rate and blood pressure are carefully monitored for irregularities. Our rehabilitation professionals will also work with patients on strategies and life skills for healthy mind and body going forward.
The Pulmonary Rehabilitation program is a comprehensive, eight-week program designed to help people cope with a lung disease. Patients benefit from a team approach to rehab care, including physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, dietitians, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, psychologists and pulmonologists.
Participants join a small group for sessions of education, exercise and peer support.
These therapies are offered in both Hyannis and Falmouth, and the Falmouth program is certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
