Aquatic Therapy

Next Step

For more information on services at Cape Cod Healthcare, call our Access Line at 877-CAPECOD or email us today.

Aquatic Therapy is designed to improve a patient’s functional abilities when mobility, severe pain or weakness prevents other therapies or weight-bearing exercise is restricted.

Cape Cod Healthcare Physical Therapists conduct therapy in a pool to take advantage of water’s unique benefits: buoyancy, the resistance required to move in water -- and hydrostatic pressure, the pressure exerted on a person standing in water.

Benefits of Aquatic Therapy include:

  • Increasing muscle strength and endurance
  • Decreasing swelling
  • Lowering muscle spasms and promoting relaxation
  • Increasing circulation
  • Increasing balance and coordination
