JML Care Center Earns U.S. News & World Report Recognition

U.S. News & World Report has awarded JML Care Center in Falmouth its highest possible rating of five stars in the sixth annual Best Nursing Homes list. The Best Nursing Homes 2014 ratings highlight the top nursing homes in each city and state out of nearly 16,000 facilities nationwide. JML was the only nursing home in Falmouth to receive the five-star rating.
Best Nursing Homes draws on Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services data that assigns a rating of one to five stars in each of three areas: health inspections, level of nurse staffing and quality of care. Each nursing home also receives an overall star rating, based on a compilation of scores from those three areas. U.S. News awarded the “Best Nursing Home” designation to only those facilities that earned an overall rating of five stars in January 2014.
According to the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, about 60 percent of individuals over the age of 65 will require long-term care services during their lives and over 40 percent will receive care in a nursing home. U.S. News’ goal is to help millions of Americans who will spend time in a nursing home in 2014 find a home with a strong track record of care.
“We are very pleased that U.S. News & World Report has recognized JML for the exceptional facility that it is,” said Michael Lauf, President and CEO of Cape Cod Healthcare, the parent company of JML Care Center. “JML is a first-rate facility because our skilled and experienced caregivers and support staff – from housekeeping to nursing to the administration- provide the same compassionate care they would give to their own family members.”
JML Care Center opened its doors in 1989 to provide post-acute, long-term and day care services to patients. The 132-bed facility is located on the Falmouth Hospital campus, with nearby access to primary and specialty care practices.
“All of us at JML are thrilled to have received this honor,” said JML Administrator Cynthia Lehtinen. “The credit goes to our wonderful staff, all of whom have a deep level of commitment to their patients and to this facility, which shows in everything they do.”
