CCHC Breast Centers Receive National Accreditation

Cape Cod Healthcare is pleased to announce that Cuda Women’s Health Center in Hyannis and Seifer Women’s Health and Imaging Center in Falmouth have each received three-year full accreditation from the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). NAPBC is a program of the American College of Surgeons.

Cuda and Seifer are the only NAPBC-accredited breast centers in the Southeastern Massachusetts region.
Accreditation by the NAPBC is only given to those centers that have voluntarily committed to provide the highest level of quality breast care. Accredited centers undergo a rigorous evaluation process and review of their performance. During the survey process, the center must demonstrate compliance with standards established by NAPBC for treating the full spectrum of breast disease.

Receiving care at a NAPBC-accredited center ensures that a patient will have access to:

  • Comprehensive care, including a full range of state-of-the-art services
  • A multidisciplinary team approach to coordinate the best treatment options
  • Information about ongoing clinical trials and new treatment options
  • Quality care close to home.

“We are extremely pleased to receive this accreditation for our breast care centers,” said Michael K. Lauf, President and CEO of Cape Cod Healthcare. “Our exceptional breast surgeons, breast radiologists, nurse practitioners, nurses, technologists and staff at Cuda and Seifer have set high standards for delivering patient-centered care, and have worked hard to make sure they maintain those standards. Women and men who receive care at our breast centers can rest assured they are receiving the most up-to-date, evidenced-based care, with the latest technology.”

In addition to the NAPBC accreditation, Seifer Women’s Health and Imaging Center and Cuda Women’s Health Center have also each been designated by the American College of Radiology as a “Breast Center of Excellence.” The ACR awards this designation to breast centers that achieve excellence by seeking and earning accreditation in all of the ACR’s voluntary breast accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program.

The National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers is a consortium of professional organizations dedicated to the improvement of the quality of care and monitoring of outcomes of patients with diseases of the breast. This mission is pursued through standard-setting, scientific validation and patient and professional education. Its board membership includes professionals from 20 national breast care organizations, such as the American Cancer Society, the Oncology Nursing Society, the Society of Breast Imaging and the American Society of Breast Disease.
