Yarmouth Police Department to Host 4th Annual Nicholas G. Xiarhos Blood Drive

February 2014

The Yarmouth Police Department will host an important community blood drive in honor of fallen United States Marine Corporal Nicholas G. Xiarhos from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12.

Nicholas G. Xiarhos, a 2006 graduate of Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School, died on July 23, 2009, at the age of 21 in Garmsir, Afghanistan, while going to the rescue of his fellow Marines in combat. This blood drive is being held in his memory on what would have been his 26th birthday.

The drive will be held at Yarmouth Police Headquarters at One Brad Erickson Way, West Yarmouth, and will support Cape Cod Hospital Blood Donor Services. All blood collected at Cape Cod Hospital blood drives stays on Cape Cod and is used to treat people in need here on the Cape. Any person over 17 in good health and weighing at least 110 pounds can become a blood donor. There is no upper age limit.

To make an appointment to donate blood at Wednesday’s blood drive in Yarmouth, please call 508-862-5663. Walk-ins are also welcome. Stop by and give the gift of life.
