BEYOND EXERCISE, HEALTHY NUTRITION
The Healthy Parks, Healthy People initiative extends beyond exercise to nutrition. At Cape Cod National Seashore’s only concession location at Herring Cove Beach in Provincetown, you will encounter a special health-conscious menu this year.
The National Park Service actually has an official nutrition policy: “Good nutrition is vital to good health. The National Park Service understands the importance of providing healthy, sustainably and affordable food and beverage options for park visitors.”
Its call to action “encourages park visitors to make healthy lifestyle choices and position the parks to support local economies by ensuring that all current and future concession contracts require multiple healthy, sustainably produced and reasonably priced food options at national park concessions.”
The Cape Cod Healthcare medical team, led by Dr. Elissa Thompson, can provide information and guidance to you about how to best combine exercise and nutrition. Visit them at the Healthy Parks, Healthy People base camp 7 am to 10 am Monday through Friday at the Salt Pond Visitor Center.
