Couch to 5K Training Program

Congratulations on taking the next step in our Healthy Parks, Healthy People initiative for better health and wellness. Our Couch to 5K Training Program is a 9-week program designed to improve your fitness level from sedentary to participating in the many great road races Cape Cod has to offer. We encourage you to check in regularly at our HPHP station to track your blood pressure, BMI, body fat percentage and weight so that you can see your progress toward better health.

To expand upon the partnership between the National Parks Service and Cape Cod Healthcare, our Certified Athletic Trainer, Danny O'Keefe has created this 9-week self-guided training program. If you aren't able to exercise along the many trails throughout the Cape Cod National Seashore, this can be done anywhere.

Danny O'Keefe

Danny O’Keefe graduated from Georgia College and State University with a Bachelors in Sports Medicine and Minor in Marketing.  After graduation he moved to the Cape and began working as an Athletic Trainer with the Cape Cod Baseball League and continued to do so for the next 7 years.

Simultaneously, he began working with Cape Cod Healthcare in outpatient rehabilitation and recognized a need for auxiliary programs to better meet the needs of his patients.  As an avid golfer, he took special interest in the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) and earned his certification as a TPI performance coach specializing in training golfers for optimal mobility and function.  

Since then Danny has developed a golf performance program, post rehabilitative fitness program, healthy aging and wellness program and taken over two aquatic exercise programs designed for patients with joint dysfunction and breast cancer.
